Youth Services

Our goal is to make cooperating for the greater good a common expectation and experience for all young people. Working together for the common good, we think, fosters the growth of youth, communities, and democracy.

Three out of every four young people are still not participating in activities, despite the fact that youth participation rates are at or near record-high levels. The rates of involvement are much lower for young people from communities of color and underprivileged, historically marginalized areas.

LACES is working to change that.

LACES supports its activation campaigns & events with grants, training & resources, and recognition programs for young people and their adult partners. Youth-led projects use Awareness, Service, Advocacy, and Philanthropy (ASAP) strategies to change the world.

LACES nonpartisan effort to ensure youth have a voice in the future of this country by making sure they register to vote and then vote. 4 million Americans turn 18 every year, but we estimate fewer than 30% are registered to vote. Barriers to registration are the #1 obstacle to youth voter turnout. Educational institutions provide the framework, encouragement, and repeated learning cycle necessary to foster the cultural shift required to instill lifelong voting habits.

Positively interacting with youth is essential to the endeavor. We can create a nonpartisan, instructional framework for civic engagement, voter registration, and first-time voting by concentrating on high school students.

– Lack of Infrastructure: According to Pew research, most students are never asked to register to vote in school or as part of a class.
– Lack of Comprehensive Data: Numbers reveal how well a community is onboarding its newest voters.
– Youth Invisibility: Candidates and campaigns do not speak to voters’ needs until they are registered.
